Jammu, Jul 30 (KNO): Jammu Police have successfully thwarted a major targeted killing plot in Nagrota area of Jammu, recovering a cache of weapons dropped via drone and apprehending a suspect.
The operation marks a significant breakthrough in preventing a potential terrorist attack in the region.
“Acting on credible intelligence, a joint team of Jammu Police and security forces conducted a swift operation in Nagrota and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration HR38Z-2066, travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar. The further serch of vehicle led to leading to the recovery of three foreign-made pistols—comprising Chinese and Turkish origin—along with a substantial quantity of ammunition from accused driver identified as Azan Hameed Gazi resident of Hilalabad, Qamarwari, Srinagar, who is suspected to have been used to facilitate the movement of the illicit arms,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Police further said that three empty magazines, eight live cartridges and two empty cartridges from a handbag concealed under the co-driver’s seat while accused failed to produce any valid documents or licenses for the recovered arms and ammunition.
The weapons, believed to have been airdropped via drone, were intended for use in a targeted killing operation aimed at disrupting peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir, police said, adding that acting swiftly, police registered a case under FIR number 170/2025, Section 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Nagrota.
The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of the weapons, police said—(KNO)
